


Massage is one of the oldest forms of healing. It relaxes and calms the tense, anxious mind by slowing down the breathing from short, rapid breaths to more effective deep, slow breaths. This relieves mental, emotional and physical fatigue.
It improves the circulation, enabling oxygen and nutrients to pass more freely through the body and speeds up lymphatic flow, allowing accumulated waste products – or toxins – to leave the body more quickly. It loosens and relaxes tight muscles by breaking down fibrous adhesions and helps to tone weak muscles. Each massage will leave you feeling calm, relaxed and revitalized.
Massage has also become popular due to its ability to reduce the effects of stress on the body. If you’re suffering from fatigue, irritability, the inability to sleep, forgetfulness or general aches and pains, you could be suffering from stress – and these symptoms are just some of the ways your body has of asking for help. It’s becoming widely accepted that stress and tension affect the body directly, and if left unchecked, can go on to cause some quite serious diseases.
You don’t have to have a “specific problem” to have a massage – it works very well as preventative health care too and the benefits are cumulative: regular massage prolongs the feeling of well-being. It restores balance and connects us with other human beings.
Lara is an ITEC trained, fully qualified and insured massage therapist. She studied with The Alison Rostron School of massage in Norwich and she obtained her qualification in 2000. She studied Indian Head Massage with Narendra Mehta at the London Centre of Indian Champissage. Narendra Mehta is the man responsible for introducing Indian Head Massage to the west in the 1970’s. Lara feels very blessed to have had the privilege of being taught by such knowledgeable and skilled teachers.
Therapeutic (Swedish) Massage.
Therapeutic massage tends to focus on the problem areas, and may be deeper than other massages. The massage may be a full body massage; however the session can be tailored to the areas that need most work: often the shoulders, back or legs. I usually use essential oils with this massage (unless specifically asked not to) although it is not an aromatherapy massage as such. All base oils and essential oils I use are certified organic.
