Pilates
Pilates is a gentle, yet powerful system, offering safe long-term improvement in posture and muscle tone. It can work for everyone, regardless of age or fitness level and can benefit those with back and postural problems.
The exercise system was developed by Joseph Pilates, who had suffered as a child from ill health. Determined to become physically stronger, he developed a system which became his lifetime's work. He became well known for his work in the rehabilitation of war veterans, including those that had lost limbs. Later he opened an exercise studio in America and worked with many dancers to help strengthen mind and body and enhance performance.
